Professional drivers will tell you that something that short and tall should never try to be sporty. They will tell that a car like the Juke has no real of-roading performance. But that’s kind of missing the point completely.
Without evolutionary cars such as this one, we’d still be driving boxy sedans from the 80s. Nissan has been rewarded for its boldness with increased sales, and now it wants to give back to its fans by introducing the Nismo version of the Juke as well.
This is the first model launch in Nismo’s new brand strategy. They are no longer a racing division and have become the in-house tuning brand for Nissan’s products, much like John Cooper Works is for MINI.
The Juke Nismo made its official debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2013 earlier today. It features enhanced styling courtesy of a sporty body kit and more power coming from the 1.6-liter turbo engine, which now makes 200 PS (available only with front-wheel drive).
It was first shown as a concept at the Tokyo Motor Show and will enter full production next month.
