Nissan Inaugurates the Cube Store

The British division of Nissan recently introduced the cube model, which is expected to be sold in around 2,000 units per year, with first cars to find their owners in January 2010. To celebrate the launch, Nissan Design Europe create the Cube Store, located in the heart of London, at The Boiler House.

The new London Cube Store is a retail space and exhibition by day and an event center by night. The venue will play host to a six-week season of design, art, music, fashion and film themed experiences.

Over 15 events will be staged at the Cube Store until December 23, hosted by renown creative figures such as Tony Kaye and Alfred Malmros. During the daytime, the unique Nissan attraction will feature the brand’s first ever pop-up store featuring famous Parisian design company, Colette. Day or night, however, the star attraction will still be the Nissan Cube.

The vehicle is powered by a 1.8-liter engine that develops 122 horsepower and 148 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, with front wheel drive. According to official Nissan figures, the car achieves a fuel consumption rating of 26 mpg (9 L/100Km) city and 40 mpg (5.9 L/100Km) highway.

“The Cube is a unique new model and has an equally unique build up to its launch. The Cube Store is yet another example of Nissan using its design expertise to do so much more than creating fantastic new cars. It’s a must see for any visitor to the East End,” commented Nissan’s UK managing director, Paul Willcox.
