Nissan ESFLOW to Debut in Geneva

Nissan looks set to continue the recent trend of all-electric vehicles that it started with the Zero Emission family car, the LEAF, as the company has announced it will be "putting the spark" into an electric vehicle called the Nissan ESFLOW. The new EV sportscar concept, scheduled to debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, features some dramatic styling that hints at its performance orientation. The color scheme chosen for the body of the car is inspired by glaciers and consists of a “highly reflective solidified liquid with blue tints in its shadows.” Blue carbon inserts were added to the six-spoke wheels, the side sill, roof mounted lip spoiler and lower rear bumper. Keeping in line with the minimalism of the outside, the cabin of the concept is clean and open, reducing unnecessary weight in the process. The car is powered by a pair of electric motors that move both left and right rear wheels. Although no power rating was released, Nissan says the electric sportcar concept will reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in under 5 seconds. The figure is very impressive when you consider the laminated lithium-ion battery pack mounted under the floor also give it a range of about 240 km (386 miles). The ESFLOW concept will be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show (3-13 March) where it will share the Nissan stand with a number of other innovative newcomers, including the Nissan LEAF, the 2011 European Car of The Year, and the advanced Micra DIG-S. autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
