Nissan Americas Shuffles Execs

Caught in the middle of an all-out expansion plan, Japanese manufacturer Nissan announced today the appointment of two new executives to its local Purchasing and Corporate Planning departments.

Both core assets of the auto maker, the two divisions will get a new leadership, whose main task will be to focus on the development of the Nissan business in Canada and Brazil. All the changes below will become effective April 1, 2011.

The Purchasing department will be led by Rebecca Vest, the current head of the Powertrain Purchasing department for the Renault-Nissan group. Vest will be replacing Catherine Perez, who has been appointed Corporate Planning and Program Management Office vice president. Last, but not least, Eric Noziere, the man in charge with the corporate planning, will be appointed general manager, Corporate Planning-Canada and Brazil.

"This set of management appointments enables Nissan to sharpen its focus on growth and development in Canada and Brazil, while preserving stability and business continuity across our entire Americas organization," said Carlos Tavares, Nissan Americas chairman.

"Catherine, Rebecca and Eric will each bring functional expertise as well as critical knowledge of the company to their new positions, demonstrating the bench strength of our Americas leadership team."

Nissan is currently in expansion mode in the US, as are, in fact, pretty much all manufacturers conducting business in the region. The main focus of the auto maker in the Americas is the introduction of the electric vehicle, supported through a new facility (for both EVs and batteries) currently being built in the US.
