Nicky Hayden Undergoes Small Arm Surgery

Nicky Hayden will eventually make the Sepang MotoGP test meeting despite the fact that he recently suffered an arm surgery this past weekend. The second test of the 2010 calendar is scheduled in Malaysia in 2 weeks time – the first one happened last week, also at the Sepang International Circuit – and is seems the American rider will have no problem taking his Ducati bike to the track at that date.

Immediately after last week's test in Malaysia, the “Kentucky Kid” made a short visit to Doctor Angel Vilamor's clinic in Madrid in order to have his scar tissue removed from a previous operation. Therefore, the operation he underwent last weekend was not a serious one, but more of a clean-up surgery on his previous intervention.

The first proof that Hayden is OK and ready to go is the fact that the Ducati rider has already gone back to his native USA in order to make the most of his 2-week vacation off racing, after which he'll join his teammate Casey Stoner for the upcoming Sepang test.

If Hayden's situation is totally under control, one cannot say the same thing about Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo. The Spanish rider went motocross training near Barcelona and unfortunately suffered a slight crash, injuring his hand in the process. He was immediately taken to the hospital, but the doctors' verdict was as bad as it could get.

According to crash.net, the Spaniard was diagnosed with a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal and a displaced thumb, something that required immediate surgery. It seems his condition now requires four to six weeks hand protection, which means he'll fail to make it to the Sepang test 2 weeks from now.
