New VW Touareg UK Pricing Announced

The British division of Volkswagen announced today its new generation Touareg model is open for ordering today at nationwide dealers, with customer deliveries scheduled to start in October. Moreover, the German carmaker also announced pricing details of the new Touareg in the UK.

Getting straight to the point, prices will start at £38,225 for the SE 3.0-litre TDI 240 PS, while the Hybrid model, which goes on sale next month, has a price tag of £54,995.

Compared to the previous version, the new generation Touareg is cleaner and lighter, weighing over 200 kg less than the outgoing car and being 20 percent more efficient, thanks to features such as battery regeneration (recuperation or energy recovery during braking phases) and a Start/Stop function.

The model is available in four variants, namely SE, Altitude, Escape and Hybrid, with standard equipment on the entry-level grade including leather trim, touchscreen satellite navigation with DAB radio, six airbags, burr walnut interior trim, 2Zone climate control and 4MOTION four wheel drive.

Performance wise, the new Touareg will come with three powertrains, all mated to a new eight-speed tiptronic automatic gearbox. The 3.0-litre 240 hp is capable of returning 38.2 mpg (6.16 l/100km) while emitting 195 g/km of CO2, and is expected to be the volume seller.

The Hybrid version is powered by a combination of a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 TSI petrol engine developing a total output of 380 hp. This enables the car to sprint from naught to sixty in 6.5 seconds, while returning 34.4 mpg (6.84 l/100km) while emitting 193 g/km of CO2.

Finally, a new 4.2-litre TDI V8 engine producing 340 hp completes the range, a unit that is capable of achieving 31 mpg (7.59 l/100km) on the combined cycle while emitting 239 g/km of CO2.
