It has now been officially confirmed that new Volkswagen Passat (the car will receive an important facelift) will make its world premiere at the upcoming Paris Auto Show.
The VW mid-size sedan was expected to make its debut at the event, with the show’s organizers now confirming this move. They explained that the new Passat will be the German automotive producer’s priority for the event.
Volkswagen has not released any official information or images for the upcoming generation of the Passat. However, the vehicle is expected to use the new VW family face, which means that it will drop the current chromed approach used for the front fascia.
As the facelift will be a serious one, VW is also expected to modify the palform of the Passat. As for the engines, the new Passat should be a follower of the downsizing trend. Its gasoline engines will make use of forced induction and will come with capacities of between 1.2 and 2.0 liters.
The refreshed Passat will offer a long list of state-of-the-art technologies. An important part of these will be aimed at increasing the safety level offered by the vehicles. The list will include features such as an active cruise control system, adaptive headlights and a back-up camera.
autoevolution will be attending the 2010 Paris Auto Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
