As you probably know, Saab is now owned by National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS), a company that plans to build EVs for the Chinese market. The carmaker’s new onwer recently announced that Saab’s new EV is set to debut in 18 months from now.
The future electric car will be based on the Saab 9-3 and the company hasn’t announced plans to sell it on markets outside China.
"The efforts to implement our business plan can now be multiplied, focused on the development of a world-class electric vehicle in Trollhattan," said Karl-Erling Trogen, National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB chairman in a statement. "In approximately 18 months, we plan to introduce our first electric vehicle based on Saab 9-3 technologies and a new-technology electric powertrain."
As we previously reported neither the aforementioned EV, not the cars that will follow it, will come with Saab’s griffin logo, as NEVS is not allowed to use this.
