The Citroen DS3 is a resounding success for both Citroen and the PSA group. It has been racking up steady and decent sales since its European launch, back in 2009. Now, the French manufacturer has launched the DS3 in China, at the Chengdu Auto Show.
It is priced from 199,800 to 249,800 yuan (€24,920 to €31,170), which will enable it to successfully compete with cars such as the Audi A1, the Mini or VW’s Beetle. There are currently no plans to build the DS3 in China, so most likely all cars will be imported straight from France.
It will be offered only with the 120 hp 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated petrol engine (one up from the entry level engine in Europe), which will be mated to either a five-cog manual or a four-cog automatic - yes, that’s right, a four-speed automatic gearbox fitted to a modern car, in 2012.
