New Maserati Saloon Coming in 2014

Maserati will build a mid-sized performance premium saloon that will be placed under the replacement of the Quattroporte model, as motortrend reports.

The new vehicle, which will take on the upcoming Audi A7, Mercedes CLS, Jaguar XF, BMW 5 Series and Cadillac CTS (we may be talking about the performance versions of these cars here) is expected to enter the market in 2014, with the car reaching the U.S as a 2015 model year vehicle.

The upcoming model will be offered in two versions, each offering a distinctive feel. The entry-level one will be priced at about $68,000. This would make it a competitor for the near-high-end V8 powered versions of the aforementioned list of vehicles. The top version of the car is expected to come with a 20 percent premium, playing in the performance versions league of the German, British and American rivals.

Maserati’s traditional brand values, such as lively handling, special styling, premium interiors and roaring engines, will also be featured on the new vehicle, allowing it to offer the usual high-end package.

The vehicle is currently in the early development stages, with the company still being far from building test mules for the car. Considering that Maserati is a low-volume automotive producer, we could expect the new model to share some of its parts with other models from the company’s range.

The model will allow the Italian carmaker to strengthen its position on the premium vehicles market. The car is part of Maserati’s 2014 business strategy, which has been reveled by the company’s CEO Sergio Marchionne.
