Their CUSW (Compact US Wide) platform will be used to create not only the replacement for the Jeep Liberty, but also the next Compass, Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. This will be a stern test of what the Fiat-Chrysler partnership can do in terms of converting a platform to meed different demands.
"It's gonna be a trail-rated, full-blooded Jeep that has its origins in the architecture of a sports car," Chrysler and Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne said in an interview, according to USA Today.
This latest report contradicts a recent rumor saying the Dodge Avenger would get the axe treatment so Chrysler can focus on making the 200 great. Still, the two cars might end up being very similar, sold with different interior trim or bumpers, but sharing the same architecture.
