We previously showed you a set of spy photos that showed a test mule of the Infiniti G37 that was out for winter testing. Back then, we weren’t sure of the development stage the vehicle was in, but now it seems that this is an advanced one, as a Nissan executive told Inside Line that the fresh Infiniti G Series will come to the US marker in the spring of next year.
The arrival of the new G “in a year from now” was confirmed by Andy Plamer, executive vice president of Nissan and Infiniti's Global Business Unit.

The obvious question is whether Infitniti will use a turbocharged V6 engine, but Palmer declined to offer an exact answer. However, he did offer a hint: “everybody is looking to deliver V8 power with V6 efficiency, so turbocharging often makes sense."

At the moment, there are two possibilities for such an engine to arrive under the hood of the next G. Infiniti could heavily modify its current VQ series V6 or adopt Mercedes-Benz powerplants (the two carmakers have established an alliance). The latter seems extremely attractive, as it would also allow the Japanese carmaker to use four-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel units for the European market.

We'll remind you that a previous unnoficial report indicates that the next Infiniti G will also share its platform, not just its engines, with the next Mercedes C-Class.
