New Chevrolet Agile First Official Photo

General Motors has finally rolled out the first official photo showing the all new Chevrolet Agile, a model which is specifically aimed at South American markets and is projected to go on sale later this year in October. As you can see for yourselves in the adjacent images, the car looks similar to what we have seen in the teasers GM rolled out some months ago, including the new grille, the large headlights and the redesigned front bumper.

"The Agile goes beyond a traditional hatchback. Our task was to design a vehicle for a demanding client. Great design, interior space and versatility to attract customers from a different urban public to a surfer who loves the countryside," Carlos Barba, GM Design director said in a release rolled out in July.

Unfortunately, there are no technical details available at this point but the car will most likely rely on an upgraded range of engines, especially tweaked for reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Earlier rumors indicated that the car will be offered in a choice of two engines, a 1.4-liter unit developing 105 horsepower and a 1.8-liter configuration producing 129 horsepower.

This is the first model entirely developed by GM's Mercosur Center for Development located in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the US-based manufacturer mentioned in a release, and comes to complete the Chevrolet line in the region which currently comprises Spark, Corsa, Aveo, Astra, Vecta, Meriva and a couple of other models.

The parent company invested approximately $400 million for the development and production of the car in the aforementioned facilities. The new Agile will target emerging markets such as Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay.
