One of the best things that happened to Android Auto lately is the support for new categories of apps. Google announced it earlier this year and is now working on making it happen with the help of third-party developers.
In other words, the search giant is currently working together with software makers on bringing more apps to the world of Android Auto. Today we finally get a confirmation of three big names already in the testing stage, thanks to an official Google post.

First and foremost, it’s T Map, a navigation app that’s supposed to serve as an alternative to Google Maps and is currently in beta testing on Android Auto. As we told you earlier this month, T Map, an application developed by South Korean carrier SK Telecom, hit the beta stage in early December. For the time being, though, it’s still not clear when exactly it is supposed to go live for everybody.

Another navigation app coming to Android Auto is 2GIS, a tool supposed to let you find a specific address without the need for an Internet connection. As you probably know already, Google Maps also supports offline maps, but 2GIS is entirely focused on this capability, promising 3D maps of nearly 200 cities out there.

Then we have PlugShare, an EV charging application that also entered the beta stage silently a few weeks ago. PlugShare is currently being tested with the help of a limited number of users, and again, there’s no ETA as to when everybody else could get it.

In addition to T Map, 2GIS, and PlugShare, Sygic is also working on an Android Auto version of its navigation app, and a recently released beta allows users to give a try to the new experience in their cars.

Google itself hopes the number of apps coming to Android Auto will increase in the coming months, but for now, these are the biggest names confirmed to be working on an experience optimized for driving.
