While some people are struggling with Android Auto notifications because they’re not getting any alerts for new messages, others complain of a totally different experience.
In other words, there are users out there claiming that Android Auto actually sends the same notification twice in their cars, and at this point, it’s all just a big mystery as to why this thing is happening.
At first glance, this only appears to affect text message notifications, and if I were to guess, I’d say it’s all caused by an update the Android messaging app received recently.
Users on Google’s forums claim this only happens on Samsung phones, and another culprit could be a recent update released by the South Korean company, possibly the December 2020 security patch that’s now available for download on flagships.
“I am receiving notifications twice on my Galaxy S10. I have had this car for 3 months but this issue just started 4 days ago. Very annoying. Please help. I only need to see or hear I am getting a text once,” one user explains on Google’s forums.
“My S20 just started doing the exact same thing this morning. Android Auto updated last night and I upgraded to the latest OS 4 days ago,” someone else adds.
Google is yet to acknowledge the problem, so it remains to be seen what exactly is causing the whole thing. If it’s all because of a bad Samsung update, the only way to fix it is with another patch released by the South Korean company.
The Mountain View-based search firm is projected to release a new Android Auto update next month, and this is likely to be quite a major rollout since the app would be bumped to version 6.0. One of the biggest additions would be support for wallpapers, as users would thus be allowed to choose a different background for the Android Auto interface in their cars.
