Peugeot's lineup of cars has just gotten bigger with the introduction of the new e-5008. The electric crossover is essentially a larger version of the e-3008 featuring three rows of seats as standard and partially electrified powertrain options on the 5008.
Power-wise, the new Peugeot e-5008 comes with two two-wheel drive powertrains that develop 211 hp (214 ps/157 kW) and 228 hp (231 ps/170 kW) on the Long Range, with the torque being identical in both: 254 lb-ft (345 Nm). The former offers 311 mi (500 km) of range and uses a smaller battery pack, and the latter brings a larger battery, increasing the range to 410 miles (660 km).

Chief among the EV family is the bi-motor all-wheel drive variant, which has a combined 318 hp (322 ps/237 kW). The front motor generates 254 lb-ft (345 Nm), and the rear one is rated at 125 lb-ft (170 Nm). Since it is the heaviest of the bunch, it can travel 311 miles (500 km) between charges, the same as the base variant, despite featuring the Long Range's larger battery pack. The 400V tech gives the crossover 160 kW DC charging capabilities, adding 62 miles (100 km) in 10 minutes.

Customers can also specify the crossover with a mild-hybrid powertrain, mixing a 136 ps (134 hp/100 kW) gasoline engine with a tiny electric motor housed inside the six-speed automatic transmission. Peugeot claims this version can drive in the EV mode for 50% of the time in the city. Next year, the offering will grow to include a plug-in hybrid with a 148 hp (150 ps/110 kW) engine and a 123 hp (125 ps/92 kW) electric motor, which can travel over 50 miles (80 km) in the all-quiet mode.

Peugeot's new e-5008 is 188.6 inches (4,790 mm) inches long, 9.9 inches (250 mm) longer than the platform-sharing e-3008, and its wheelbase has also increased in length from 107.8 inches (2,739 mm) to 114.2 inches (2,900 mm). It offers 9.1 cu-ft (259 liters) of cargo area in the seven-seater configuration, 26.4 cu-ft (748 liters) with the third row folded down, and 64.1 cu-ft (1,815 liters) behind the first row.

It comes with 19 or 20-inch wheels and LED headlights. Other highlights include the 21-inch panoramic i-Cockpit inside, customizable ambient lighting, smartphone integration, natural voice recognition, ChatGPT, over-the-air updates, heated seats, a heated steering wheel, a few Alcantara touches, and other gizmos, with a generous selection of safety systems being on deck as well.

The new Peugeot e-5008 will launch this fall in the Allure and GT trim levels, with three option packs. The Lion brand has yet to reveal the pricing, as it will do that close to its on-sale date this fall. For reference, the outgoing 5008 starts at £38,145 ($48,485) OTR in the UK, and the 3008 at £34,650 ($44,040) for the Allure and £38,150 ($48,450) for the GT. Thus, the new 5008 should be priced at approximately £40,000 (~$50,800) in the entry-level form, whereas its EV sibling, the e-5008, will probably cost around £50,000 (~$63,500).
