Navteq Presents 3D Motorway Junction Objects

If you were in the mood for an innovation in the way your GPS looks and behaves, then this is exactly what you were expecting for. American GPS solution provider Navteq announced the introduction of the Motorway Junction Objects application, a must have gadgetary when trying to find your way through a busy, crowded junction.

Motorway Junction Objects is a 3D application which displays animated cues to help the driver make better driving decisions. For example, when a busy junctions approaching, the system can turn from 2D display to 3D mode, to highlight the correct lane and the signs which follow. Simple put, missing a highway exit while using Motorway Junction Objects will be entirely your fault, as the system has no way of getting it wrong.

"Our research shows that processing visual cues is most valuable when targeted to the information that will improve the end-users orientation upon approaching the complex junction," Cindy Paulauskas, Navteq Americas vice president of product marketing said in a release.

"Eliminating extraneous clutter and providing only relevant information at critical and complex decision points is key to Motorway Junction Object's product design. It's all about making driving easier, not more entertaining."

As with any application, Motorway Junction Objects can be personalized to suit the driver's needs. Three different levels of detail are being provided, so that your hardware won't have a hard time rendering the images.

The system incorporates information about some 2,000 decision points in North America and 8,000 worldwide. The system was created by Navteq based on consumer research and is aimed at helping people stop taking the wrong highway exit.
