You don’t get to have a 3-decade long career as a model without developing some quirks along the way, and Naomi Campbell swears by her “little” airport routine that helps her stay healthy when she spends most of her days on the road.
To be clear, there is nothing “little” about the routine, as it involves disposable gloves and a face mask, and Dettol wipes with which she virtually cleans everything around her seat that she comes into contact with. Naomi knows that her routine may look perplexing to others, but since her health is in the balance, she doesn’t care what they might think.

The model herself made the revelation during the latest episode of her YouTube series Being Naomi, titled “Come Fly With Me.” It shows Naomi walking through the airport and checking out women’s legs, buying sweets from the duty-free shop (oh no, she didn’t!) and picking up beauty magazines at a stand. This happens at the Nice Airport, as she’s about to board a Qatar Airlines flight for Doha, Qatar.

After she boards the plane in Business Class, Naomi gets to work. She digs deep in her Louis Vuitton bag and retrieves her disposable globes, grabs the sanitary wipes and gets cleaning.

“Clean anything that you could possibly touch,”
she says. That includes the window, the controls overhead, the seat and the seatbelt, tray table, TV screen, and remote control. “This is what I do on every plane I get on. I do not care what people think of me. It's my health and it makes me feel better,” Naomi says.

She stands by this routine regardless if she’s flying commercial or private, so it’s not a thing about being forced to travel with regular mortals; it’s more about her health and her fear of catching germs.

Speaking of which, once everything is clean, Naomi settles in for the flight, but not before putting a seat cover on (handwashed by the people at her hotel) and a face mask on.

“No matter what plane you take, private or commercial,”
she says. “As the plane descends, people start coughing and sneezing. I just can't. This is my protection for people coughing and sneezing. I mean as much as I travel, I should get sick so much more with colds and stuff. I'm blessed that I don't. I really think that this helps me, my little routine.”
