The incident happened last week and is currently under investigation. However, authorities have ruled out foul play and are working on the theory that the man was trying to make an illegal entrance into the U.K.

For this purpose, he sneaked inside the landing gear at the Nairobi airport, hoping to come out safely at the end of the journey. When the plane deployed the landing gear for landing at Heathrow, the man fell out, plummeting 3,500 feet and smashing into someone’s yard, the Daily Mail reports.

One man was sunbathing and had fallen asleep in his chair only a short distance – 3 feet away – from where the body fell, in the garden of a £2.3 million London house, in Offerton Road. A neighbor heard a loud noise and looked out the window: at first, he thought the man was a homeless person who was sleeping but when he approached the area, he saw that the man’s head was “not in a good way.”

The body was frozen, according to online accounts.

“There was an almighty bang. At first I thought it was some scaffolding falling down and thought nothing more about it,” a female neighbor tells the publication. “My husband decided to see what was going on and went upstairs to take a look. He was obviously quite shocked and went out into the street where my neighbor was standing on the phone to the police.”

Police say that, inside the landing gear, they also found a bag, water and food supplies, which is why they’re not treating the death as foul play. The man died before he fell from the plane, when the landing gear deployed.

“The incident has been treated as a sudden death and is now a police matter,” Kenya Airways says in a statement to the same media outlet. “The police have already been in contact with the Kenya High Commission to help identify and name the person. It is unfortunate that a person has lost his life by stowing aboard one of our aircraft and we express our condolences.”
