While LA holds a host of inspiring driving roads that are not too far from the city, each of those paths comes with its own little tricks one must learn before going into full attack mode. Apparently, the driver of the Ferrari 360 Modena in the adjacent clip skipped this step and the aftermath was a rather extreme one.
The clip takes us to Mulholland drive, where the 360 Modena enters Edward’s Corner heading eastbound. This is a bend that follows a road section which allows you to briefly enter the triple-digit zone, so many people come into the bend very hard. Still, we don’t know if this was the case here.
The footage begins with the car already going sideways, but, just like the driver, you would probably imagine things are going to end up in an embarrassing spin. Well, things got a little worse than that.
While the Ferrari driver did countersteer, it looks like he may have gone though the usual set of panic impulses, the ones that keep one from pushing the throttle when the back steps out. When this usually occurs, your conservation instinct managed to dominate your driving skills, thus not letting you feed the car with (enough) throttle in order for that rear end to come back in line.
In certain situations, people choose not to risk stepping on the gas and perhaps overcorrecting, so that the car doesn’t get sent flying the other way. Nevertheless, this probably wasn’t the case, since a spinning journey to the other side of the road couldn’t have possibly ended worse.
That’s because while the 360 did start to recover, it would’ve needed quite some extra space in order to pull that trick. Instead, the car went off the road, tumbling down a hill and landing on its roof. In the process, it also hit a three.
Mulholland vehicle spotter RNickeyMouse, who caught the accident on camera, says the passenger was in a good overall condition, despite having suffered some cuts to the head, while the passenger was not injured at all.
