MTM, VW Group dedicated tuner has released two tuning packages boosting the Golf VI GTI's power output by 50 percent and bringing the Golf VI GTD to the stock GTI’s power level.

Motoren Technik Mayer offers four power upgrade level for the sixth incarnation of the iconic Golf GTI. These begin with a ECU upgrade which is anything but modest, at 270 HP. The tuning range is topped by the 310 HP, 410 Nm of torque model. The additional power was achieved through the use of a MTM turbocharger, exhaust manifold, 4 pipes exhaust system and, of course, an ECU modification. All these enhancements help the car deal with the first hundred in 5.7 seconds and keep it going until 270 km/h.

The MTM GTI rides on 19-inch rims, specially engineered to house the tuner’s new braking system which features 380 mm discs. The hot hatch also features a new suspension, which lowers its front end by 30 mm.

The entry level power upgrade (with 18-inch sport rims) is available for 2.698 euro, VAT included.

MTM has also prepared a special version of the Golf GTD. The standard car’s 170 HP output has been brought up to a stock GTI-rivaling 205 HP level through an ECU upgrade. This power is accompanied by 380 Nm of torque. The MTM Golf GTD accelerates form o to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds, 0.7 seconds faster that the stock version of the car. The power upgrade costs 800 euro (incld. taxes excl. installation).

The GTD can also receive an 80 mm 4 pipe exhaust system, an MTM suspension system, the company’s bespoke rims (1,499 euro - 18 inch and 1,899 euro - 19 inch) and the MTM brake system.
