Limited to 500 examples of the breed, the Senna is one of the rarest McLaren ever made. This particular Senna, however, is even more exclusive thanks to the know-how of the McLaren Special Operations.
According to Lovecars, this is chassis number 11. Built at the British automaker’s facility in Woking, United Kingdom, the MSO-ified Senna will head to Saudi Arabia to meet its owner, sheik Hussein Musallam.
The sheik also bought a build slot for the Speedtail, the spiritual successor of the McLaren F1. And just like the Senna, Musallam chose chassis number 11 for his Speedtail.
Finished in Bianco Fuji with Electric Blue and adorned with carbon fiber, the 800-horsepower Senna bears the signature of Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna on the door sill, right next to the VIN plaque. The output is matched by the torque (800 Nm or 590 pound-feet), but the secret to the car’s handling is lightness.
At 1,198 kilograms (2,641 pounds) without any fluids onboard, the Senna is the lightest McLaren ever made for the road. Those who would like their car cranked up to eleven can opt for the Senna GTR, of which the automaker will build 75 units. Retail pricing for the track-only monster starts at £1 million.
By comparison, the Senna without the GTR suffix costs £750,000. The final Senna was auctioned off back in December 2017 for £1,916,793, and every example sold will benefit the Ayrton Senna Foundation founded by the racing driver’s sister to support underprivileged children.
“Almost anything is possible through an MSO Bespoke Commission” according to McLaren, but then again, the option that grabbed our attention the most is inspired by the F1. More to the point, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 can be specified with a 24-karat gold heat shield.
