Mosley to Call Off Deal Unless FOTA Appologizes

Max Mosley doesn't seem to let go that easy of his position within the FIA. The president of the ruling body (still is) insisted that he is in charge of all Formula One related duties until the October elections, therefore dismissing the Michel Boeri suggestion. As confirmed after the Wednesday meeting with Luca di Montezemolo and Bernie Ecclestone, he only said he will not run for another mandate, not that he will imemdiately renounce his position within the FIA.

In addition, the 69-year old Brit fumed at the FOTA, especially at chairman Di Montezemolo, for allegedly “false statements” about their Paris agreement on Wednesday. The Ferrari boss earlier this week insisted that FOTA prevailed in its fight against the FIA, arguing that Mosley and Ecclestone now know how powerful the teams really are.

The Italian argued that the peace on Wednesday was not a mutual agreement between the parties, but FIA's “approving and accepting FOTA's proposals.

Also, Mosley was named a “dictator” by Di Montezemolo, as surfaced in the Italian media. Under the circumstances, the FIA president now confirms the deal between the two bodies is officially in danger of being called off.

A fundamental part of this (deal) was that we would both present a positive and truthful account. You've suggested I was a dictator, an accusation grossly insulting,” said Mosley in an official letter on Thursday.

If you wish the agreement we made to have any chance of survival, you and FOTA must immediately rectify your actions. You must correct the false statements which have been made and make no further such statements,” added the Brit.

During his Thursday press conference at Bologna, Di Montezemolo did not apologize for his Mosley-related statements prior to the FOTA meeting, but rumor has it that the Ferrari-an already sent the FIA president a personal letter in which he argues some of his sayings were misinterpreted by the Italian media.
