China has slowly grown as an automotive market, in recent years exponentially so, to the point where it is now the single most important market for many mainstream manufacturers. Same goes for Ferrari, and they have been selling their red cars in the PRC for the last 20 years.
To celebrate the event, the organized a parade - 250,000 people turned up! The event took place this week at the Guangzhou Auto Show, and is only the first of many such events to be organized within the next 11 months. Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo was, of course, present at the event, and he presided over the largest parade of Ferraris to have ever been seen in China - 130 cars rolled pas the 250,000 eager bystanders.
The convoy commenced from a Ferrari dealership in Guangzhou, and ended at the Haixinsha stadium nearby, where 18,000 people bore witness to various driving demonstrations. To conclude the event, the city’s best-known landmark, the Canton Tower, was lit up in red, to celebrate this very special event, and Ferrari’s very special relation to China (now that sales have taken off).
