Nobody can blame Cadillac for not trying, with the estate or wagon version of their CTS. Launched in 2010, the car was expected to be a strong seller (and appeal to Europeans), yet it failed to deliver in the sales department, and thus GM has announced that the car will taken out of production, never to be seen again.
Once the next-gen CTS debuts next year, the current CTS Wagon will be taken out of production, and it will not be replaced by any new model. The new CTS will be sold as both a sedan and coupe, the two body shapes which proved far more successful for GM.
The CTS Wagon wasn`t a bad looking estate car, and the V8-powered CTS-V made BMW’s old V10 M5 Touring tremble. What ultimately killed it off is the Americans’ lack of interest in estate cars, which they deem to be boring and not at all desirable to be seen in.
