Following the Chevrolet Malibu recall regarding a similar problem, it’s now the turn of the super-hot 560 hp Cadillac CTS-V Wagon to deploy its airbags for no reason. Maybe this will teach GM not to share too many parts between their cars, and if they do share them, they’d better make sure they don’t use faulty ones.
It’s probably a faulty sensor which is common among GM products, and we wouldn’t be surprised if we saw more reports of similar incidents involving other GM cars. Apparently, the side curtain airbag deployed for no reason while the CTS-V was being vigorously driven around a twisty autocross course.
So, for owners of newer GM cars, beware, as the problem may be more common than anticipated and if you know for a fact that your car has safety sensors in common with the Malibu and the CTS-V, be weary!
