Mopar has taken the wraps off its next-generation Pro Stock class vehicle, a Dodge Dart-based dragster. Built to replace the Dodge Avenger race car, Mopar's most successful Pro Stock racer yet, the new Dart is set to debut this weekend at the NHRA Gatornationals.
Developed on a virtual platform using production-based technology and tools, the Dart Pro Stock vehicle was designed with help from Chrysler Group's aerodynamic wind tunnel in Auburn, Michigan, and tested at Florida's Bradenton Motorsports Park.

Two Hemi-powered Dodge Darts will make their drag racing debut this weekend, with defending champion Allen Johnson and five-time Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. behind the wheel. A third vehicle driven by Vieri Gaines will join Mopar's Pro Stock efforts in a few weeks.

"We are very excited to launch the Dodge Dart, and along with our Mopar fans, to see what Allen and Jeg can accomplish with this new vehicle as they vie for a third championship in the high-performance and ultra-competitive Pro Stock division," said Pietro Gorlier, president and CEO of Mopar. "The new Dart is a testament of how Mopar uses the motorsports program as a technological proving ground with Chrysler’s own leading-edge technology and production processes. We have great expectations for its on-track success."

In addition to unveiling the new race cars, Mopar also announced it has extended its partnership with Magneti Marelli, who will be sponsoring Allen Johnson's Dart throughout the 2014 season.

The new Dodge Dart Pro Stock is joining Mopar's Dodge Charger R/T in the Funny Car class and the Dodge Challenger in Sportsman competition.
