Montoya Doesn't Consider F1 Return

Colombian driver Juan Pablo Montoya reiterated comments related to his potential return to Formula 1. What that means is that the former Williams and McLaren racer has no plans whatsoever to return to the series – not that some of us have missed him all these years anyway – despite the constant advices he gets to make one more attempt for F1 stardom.

Some people tell me I should go back to F1, but I'm happy,” said Montoya, winner of 7 Grands Prix during his F1 career, according to Spanish language prensa.com. “I think it is clear that there is no chance of going the other way at the moment.

Following his early exit from McLaren back in 2006, Montoya went for the NASCAR way and started rebuilding his career from the grounds up. After some seasons in the NASCAR's second and third series – Truck and Nationwide, respectively – he finally made the big step to the Sprint Cup Series, where he actually contended for the title in 2009.

Despite a less successful season in 2010 – where his Target-sponsored Chip Ganassi entry failed to make it to the Chase – Montoya said he continues to see NASCAR as a fun programme to do, as compared to the forever-boring F1.

At this moment I am happy, my sponsor is happy and Chip Ganassi is happy and that's all I care about. I saw the (Abu Dhabi) finale this year and it's like it has been all the time -- one car is a second faster than another but he cannot pass. They say the problem is the tracks but honestly F1 has always been the same.

Montoya did not hold back from praising Sebastian Vettel for his world title though, saying that the German deserved to become world champion, despite the mistakes he did throughout the 2010 campaign.

He's got talent even though he did everything possible not to win it. He and his team made many mistakes that made it very complicated for them, but I think the fastest driver and car won,” he added.
