Mitsubishi XR-PHEV Concept in Motion

There's no brand new Mitsubishi vehicle that we're crazy about right now. The Outlander is about as sexy as the bearded woman at the circus, while the Mirage subcompact is frankly a bit irrelevant.
But Mitsubishi could still have a future though, just as long as they manage to put at least one of their crazy concept shown this year into production.

This one is really our favorite in terms of styling. Called the XR-PHEV, it supposedly previews a next-generation compact SUV. We don't yet know if that represents an ASX replacement, an new nameplate the same size or an even smaller car.

We do know it's a plug in hybrid electric vehicle, powered by "a downsized 1.1-liter direct-injection turbocharged MIVEC engine, a lightweight, compact and high-efficiency motor with a high-capacity battery."

Bold and stylish, this coupe-ish SUV has LED headlights and imposing front end design. It's so good that Mitsubishi decided it was good enough to strut its stuff in Paris. This isn't actual driving footage, but putting a clip like this together shows they are committed to production, at least some time in the future.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
