We all knew that Mitsubishi is preparing some enthusiastic projects but until now, the Japanese carmaker managed to do a great job and keep a tight lid on things. Well, the company has finally decided to unveil its latest contraption, the so-called RVR, an all-new compact crossover that is projected to go on sale in Japan next spring.
Technical details are obviously unavailable, with more information likely to surface in the months to come as we get closer to the official launch date.
However, we do know that the RVR will be the name to be used in Japan, with other markets likely to adopt different nameplates. For example, sources familiar with the matter are indicating that Mitsubishi could use the Outlander Sport badge once it will go on sale in overseas markets.
Additionally, Mitsubishi said the car will employ a 1.8-liter MIVEC petrol engine specifically optimized to return the perfect combination of reduced fuel consumption, minimum emissions and large power output. A lightweight body will contribute to all these aspects.
Mitsubishi says the new compact crossover will be marketed globally, including North America, Europe and Asian regions such as China. Launch dates are yet to be disclosed but 2010 is likely to witness the introduction of the car all over the globe.
As said, details are still in the very early stage so we can't talk too much about the new model. However, have a look at the adjacent photos to make an opinion on how the car will look like. Expect more information soon.
