Currently at its fourth-generation, the Mitsubishi Pajero is a very old full-size SUV. In fact, the model which is sold nowadays has been introduced some eight years ago and it looks rather old school both inside and outside. However, the automaker has recently launched a facelifted Pajero in its home country, boasting a handful of new bits and bobs.
Before we go further, we remind you that this car isn't sold in the United States, where previous generations were marketed as the Montero because Pajero is a Spanish slang term for onanist, while other markets such as the United Kingdom know this off-roader as the Shogun. Unfortunately for fans of the brand, changes applied are somewhat minor.
Boasting a slightly more modern radiator grille with vertical chrome bars that continue all the way down to the front bumper's low end, the other noteworthy change is represented by LED daytime running lights fitted night next to the fog lights. The triple diamond marque's facelifted Pajero also gets better sound insulation for a more upmarket feel in the cabin, as well as a wider array of trim.
As for the oily bits, things are a bit same old same old. On the Japanese market, the Mitsubishi Pajero FL is sold either with a 3.2-liter turbo diesel with 188 horsepower and 325 lb-ft (441 Nm) on tap, as well as a 3-liter V6 petrol that churns out a slightly not enough 177 horsepower and 193 lb-ft (261 Nm) of torque. Prices start from ¥2,921,400, which translates to $28,828, €21,320 or £16,893 at current rates.
