MINI Rocketman Production Pending?

If you’ve ever wanted proof that cars are now designed in a committed by looking at graphs and charts, look no further than the MINI Rocketman. We suspect that the top brass looked at what people didn’t like about the Cooper, some of them wanting a Fiat 500 sized version and other complaining about it being too small, and decided to do both.

A recent Inside Line interview with Mini Head of Design Anders Warming goes some ways toward confirming our suspicion, as he describe the city car as being “part of an ongoing dialogue with customers that asks, 'What can we do with Mini? It's about making authentic movements and developing a relevant bandwidth for the brand."

Warming also describe the production version of the Rocketman as being “on my Christmas list.” And so it’s likely that this is the next MINI model to arrive on the market, part of the ever growing lineup that’s expected to reach ten models. Certainly, we still need to see prototypes testing first though!

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
