BMW has remained tightlipped over the mill that will power the concept, but said that it could achieve a fuel consumption rating of 3.0 l/100km (78.4 mpg), obviously with the help of several technological achievements. For instance, it uses a carbon spaceframe that makes the car very lightweight, thus contributing to the final efficiency figures.
The Rocketman boasts a 3+1 architecture, which means it has a regular seat behind the front passenger, while a smaller seat has been installed behind the driver. This second seat can be folded down for increases storage capacity in the trunk.
One of the technical innovations is the door concept that provides, as MINI says, "an extremely comfortable access to all the seats. When opened, the doors pivot outwards complete with their sills, enabling the driver and front passenger to climb in right next to their seats and get settled in comfort. Entry to the rear seats is also made much easier by the car's unusual door concept," MINI said in a press statement.
