MINI yesterday announced the official debut of the John Cooper Works Clubman in the United Kingdom, one year later compared to all other markets. The reason? Pretty awkward since the UK is MINI's domestic market but, according to a report by motoringfile.com, the manufacturer didn't want to roll out the car without the John Cooper Works aerodynamic kit. The aero-kit has already been released for the longer Clubman and is now offered as standard of this new model as well.
Production of the new model started on June 1, 2009, with the first units to be delivered to consumers on July 1. It comes with a price tag of 22,230 pounds and includes all the features seen on MINI Cooper S Clubman with several John Cooper Works enhancements.
The first things you'll notice when looking at the car are the 17-inch Cross Spoke Challenge alloy wheels and the JCW twin exhaust system. Other exterior upgrades include the black radiator grille, the black-line door sill finishers and the factory version rear roof spoiler.
The engine has been upgraded to provide a maximum output of 211 horsepower, with Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) including Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) offered as standard.
Interiors received John Cooper Works' touch as well, with the 3-spoke sport Alcantara/leather steering wheel greeting the driver when stepping in. Furthermore, the gearknob is now featuring a 6-speed shift diagram painted in red while the rest of the interior relies on a Piano Black trim.
Other highlights include a rear Park Distance Control (PDC), John Cooper Works floor mats, JCW high performance braking system and anthracite headlining.
