MINI’s Australian division has appointed a new National Manager in the person of David Woollcott, who will be taking the wheel of the brand starting from July 1st.Woollcott started his career with the BMW Group in 1999, working as a Mechanical Engineering student in Munich, Germany, before moving to Melbourne in 2004 to join BMW Melbourne in Special Vehicles and Sales.
Subsequently, the executive served as a Product Trainer for BMW Group Australia, with his most recent position being Sales and Marketing Manager for BMW Melbourne.
BMW Group Australia Managing Director, Stavros Yallouridis, said Woollcott has experience in both the the wholesale and retail sides of the business.
"David is a proven achiever, having won the 2009 International Sales Excellence Award, and he personifies the youth and energy of the MINI brand,” he said.
“MINI is entering exciting new territory with a number of entirely new vehicle concepts on the near horizon and David’s talents will be invaluable in taking these to market,” Yallouridis added.
The MINI brand is currently in the process of expanding its line-up, as the brand seeks to enter new market segments. At the beginning of the year, MINI has introduced the Countryman, its first crossover.
The vehicle’s engine range is comprised of two diesel units and two petrol powerplants. The car is available with an all wheel drive system (optional for two of the engines) and uses a six speed manual gearbox, with a six speed automatic transmission available for the petrol engines.
