MINI 50th Birthday Anniversary Video

As you all know by now, MINI is entering its second half-century of life. On August 26, 1959, the MINI brand was introduced to the world in the form of the Austin Mini Seven (or Se7en) or Morris Mini Minor.

Since then, the MINI comes in all shapes and almost the same size. It caught on very fast, first as a low-cost vehicle, slowly turning into a worthy racer and then becoming the perhaps single brand to have an unique, particular feel to it.

Of course, keeping in line with the advertising cues which guide MINI these days, the 50th anniversary video is a simple, pure British if you like, "Happy Birthday!" No candles, no fireworks, pinatas or unnecessary clowns. Just lots and lots of MINIs. Old MINIs, fast MINIs, yellow MINIs, a MINI doing a burnout even and, of course, the MINI E.

If you found reading this piece to this point confusing, watch the video. It is, if you like, the description of the quintessential MINI: not a car, an attitude. Your attitude. And no, we haven't been given a big, fat check by MINI or BMW to write this piece. But think about it.

Of all the MINIs you've seen, have you seen two which look the same? We haven't. MINI is perhaps the single car which can be turned into an extension of the owner's ego. It's a girl's car if you're a girl, or the perfect expression of your manhood if you're a bearded auto mechanic. It's for the old, for the family guy, for the British Lord or for the rebel teen.

All all off them, as different as their MINIs, came together in this clip to say a simple, pure British, no-words-needed "Happy Birthday."
