One of the famous boxer’s lost fights was with his enthusiasm for cars, as he was forced to sell most of his collection when he filled for bankruptcy.
Three years before retiring from professional boxing in 2006, Tyson declared bankruptcy, despite having received over $30 million for several of his fights and $300 million during his career. Mike failed at being the perfect tax payer, so it was only a matter of time the IRS would come after his fortune.
Whether he sold the car because his problems with the law or simply because it went out of fashion, we stumbled upon one of his rare beauties, a 1997 Bentley Continental T. The classy, luxury coupe is currently on sale in Germany, Cologne for EUR100,000 ($123,000). Apart from the fact this particular car had some enhancements, this model is already quite rare.
The Bentley Continental T is based on the Bentley Continental R concept only it showed a more athletic figure and came with a shorter wheelbase. The car comes with a powerful 6.75-liter turbocharged direct injection engine, a Garrett Airesearch turbocharger with liquid-cooled intercooler and has an output of 426 horsepower and a maximum torque of 645 lb-ft (875 Nm). Finished in black, the inside definitely has a rapper-like allure, with a black-on-red color, fur included.
Only 322 hand-built copies ever reached the market and, according to its current owner, this particular car was originally delivered to Rolls-Royce New York and sold from there in May, 1997 to Mike Tyson. The last owner was a collector in Florida and the vehicle has recently been subjected to a complete restore in Farnham, UK.
