Michael Schumacher is an icon in F1 and all other branches of on-road motorsport. His skill and consistency behind the wheel have earned him 7 world championships, 91 wins, 155 podiums and 77 fastest laps, throughout the 302 races he attended.
Now, he has officially announced his retirement from the sport, after having done it again, back in 2006. He couldn’t stay away for too long, though, and in 2009, he signed a deal with Mercedes GP and he was back in teh game in 2010, racing alongside Nico Rosberg. This second retirement is, however, irrefutably permanent, as Schumacher will reportedly be offered a management job, within the Mercedes GP team.

Now, with Lewis Hamilton having taken his place at Mercedes, Schumacher is headed for a boring desk job, full of board meetings, team building exercises and water coolers, lots of water coolers. He will, however, be revered as one of the best drivers ever to sit behind the wheel of an F1 car, and therefor his status within the team will be a very special, almost mythical one.

He will, however remain with the regret that he was not able to help Mercedes GP achieve more success, in the three years he drove for them, and he is now forced to accept criticism for his rather mediocre performance after his return - he should have retired in glory and stuck with it.
