The FX is the new electric bike from Zero Motorcycles scheduled to hit the dealerships in January 2013, a package of power, economy and freedom like no other.
This bike offers a no-nonsense 70 ft-lb (95 Nm) torque a ta twist of the grip and thanks to its lightweight design ( 275 lbs / 125 kg), the 44 BHP engine will dart you forward with breathtaking acceleration. In fact Zero claims the FX sports the quickest acceleration ever to be experienced with any of their previous machines.
With an ample suspension and aggressive tires, the Zero FX can handle anything, no matter whether we're thinking about the urban jungle, off-road trails or anything adventurous. The Z-Force brushless engine is powered by either a 2.8 kWh or 5.4 kWh battery pack, and the batteries are easily exchangeable. This means you can actually get two battery sets and keep one charged at home or at the office. Swapping them takes minutes and you're back on your bike!
And even more, the 2.8 kWh Zero FX can be upgraded to 5.4 just as easy. The bigger battery delivers a 70 miles (113 km) city range and a 31 miles/ 50 km ride at 70 mph (112 km/h) highway speed. The aircraft-grade aluminium frame is both light and extremely sturdy and you can ride on any terrain without fear.
The 2.8 kWh Zero FX will be available for $9,495/7,290 €, and the 5.4 kWh for $11,990/ 9,210€. Charging times to 100% are 4.1 and 7.8 hours, respectively, with the same 1-hour 95% charge using the CHAdeMO device.
