Many people are in the market for an ultra-luxury car and cannot bare the thought of it not being a convertible. Just look at all those half-million dollar Rolls-Royces around Beverly Hills.
But recently, the Wraith has been getting a lot more attention, which makes us wonder why Mercedes didn't make a Mercedes-Maybach S650 Coupe as well.

Mind you, even the "basic" S550 Coup' is not your run of the mill car, as its price borders on insanity. But what would a Maybach version look like? Just check out the rendering made by X-Tomi Design.

The 12-year-old inside my head loves it. Between the polished discs on the wheels and all that chrome at the front, it looks a lot like the fanciful car in the latest Final Fantasy game and movie. Frankly, it's so obscenely opulent that you wonder how it got past the serious German executive boards. I can only imagine that they were shown something else.

Mercedes have learned many lessons from its past mistakes with the Maybach brand. One trick to charging twice as much for an S-Class is not to make that many. The Maybach-branded S650 Cabriolet, currently being showed at the LA Auto Show, will be capped at just 300 units, of which 75 will be coming to the United States.

That will make it rarer than your favorite $100 prime cut Australian steak. Bloody hell!

Differentiating the S650 from the regular S-Class Cabrio is a new front bumper, added trim, extra badges, and those 20-inch wheels. There will also be three general themes to choose from, which influence the paint, fabrit top, and leather.

On top of that, you get a matching travel bag set made from the same leather. These include two travel bags and are numbered, just like the car.

While the plebeians are worried about emissions and the price of their commute, you will enjoy a dozen cylinders of the V variety. And because the world belongs to you, turbochargers suck up extra air to deliver a total of 621 horsepower, just like the AMG model. Just don't tell low-born about the 738 lb-ft of torque, as their brains are likely to explode all over your perfect leather.
