With the W447, the three-pointed star upped its light commercial vehicle game considerably. The third-generation van, which replaces the Vito and R-Class MPV, welcomes two additions to the range for 2018, named Rise and Limited.
Scheduled to be presented in the flesh at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show in September, the Rise has been designed with value for money in mind. Priced in Germany from €34,990, the V-Class Rise can be had in two configurations: compact with five seats or long wheelbase with room for eight.

As standard, the value-oriented people carrier comes with Crosswind Assist. Safety can be supplemented by ticking a few boxes off the options list, where you’ll find add-ons that include Lane Keeping Assist, Collision Prevention Assist, and Pre-Safe. 16-inch wheels come standard, as does Mercedes’ six-speed stick shift. At an additional cost, the 7G-Tronic Plus automatic can make shifting a lot easier, especially for the comfort-minded customer.

Two turbo diesel engines are available, both displacing 2.1 liters. In the case of the entry-level plant, you’re looking at 136 PS (134 horsepower) and 330 Nm (243 pound-feet). Move on up to the more potent oil-chugging mill, and brace yourself for 163 PS (161 horsepower) and 380 Nm (280 pound-feet).

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz V-Class Limited, meanwhile, is the opposite of the Limited. Designed from the get-go to be truly special, it wears design hyacinth red metallicpaintwork inspired from the C- and E-Class. Only 1,500 examples will be made, and all benefit from Night Package visual add-ons.

If needed, the customer can further beautify the V-Class Limited with AMG Line goodies. In related news, the Mercedes-Benz workhorse will be updated for the 2018 model year with the Night Package mentioned a paragraph above. What’s more, the design hyacinth red metallic will be added to the options list of the European-spec V-Class from September 2017.

If, however, the V-Class isn’t to your liking, the Mercedes-Benz stand at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show has plenty of other choices in store. And these are the Project One hypercar, GLC F-Cell EQ Power, S-Class Coupe facelift and S-Class Cabriolet facelift, as well as the recently introduced X-Class pickup.
