Mercedes-Benz and Daimler have recently added new configurations to the Sprinter Worker van. Pricing for the revised model lineup starts at $32,495 plus the $995 destination.
After it had updated the Metris Worker, making it the cheapest Mercedes-Benz you can buy in the United States in the process, the Three-Pointed Star has now reimagined the Sprinter Worker as a more versatile and more affordable workhorse. The lineup now “offers the simplest and most straightforward equipment and packaging within the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner Sprinter Van model lines.”

The expanded lineup now includes the 170-inch wheelbase, a high-roof Cargo Van, up to 486.5 cubic feet of cargo space, and an interior standing height of approximately 6.5 feet. Another addition to the Sprinter Worker Cargo Van is the 3.0-liter V6 BlueTec turbo diesel engine as an alternative to the entry-level four-cylinder engine. Only the 2.1-liter unit is coupled to a seven-speed 7G-Tronic automatic transmission.

Regarding output, the 2.1-liter four-banger oil burner makes do with a two-stage turbocharger, 23 miles per gallon, 161 horsepower, and 266 lb-ft of torque available from just 1,400 rpm. On the other end of the spectrum, the 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel powerplant is conjoined with a five-speed auto. Output? 188 horsepower and 325 lb-ft of torque.

Now let’s talk about the Sprinter Worker. For the advertised price, this van offers plenty of capability and standard equipment in return for what you’re paying. Available only in white, the Sprinter Works prides itself on a Bluetooth Telephone Interface with media streaming, USB slot, AUX input, four-speaker AM/FM radio, cabin partition preparation, six airbags, Crosswind Assist Load-Adaptive Traction Control, and class-best interior cargo volume (319.1 cuFT).

There are three packages you could choose on top of what you’re getting as standard: Convenience Package ($1,499), Utility Package ($2,999), and Overtime Package ($4,999). The most expensive of the lot includes the contents in both the Convenience and Utility Package, with the addition of a better audio system, Highbeam Assist, Blind Spot Assist, rearview camera, emergency flashlight, and a first aid kit.
