Mercedes-Benz Metris Worker Cargo and Metris Worker Passenger Priced in the USA

Last year when it was introduced, the Mercedes-Benz Metris made waves in the U.S. van industry due to the capability it offers for a rather reasonable retail price. More recently, though, the Metris lineup is joined by more affordable models in the form of the Metris Worker Cargo and Metris Worker Passenger.

Let’s start with the U.S. pricing for these humble workhorses. In the blue corner, we have the Metris Worker Cargo, a panel van which is priced from $25,995 sans the $995 destination charge. As for the red corner, there we have the Mercedes-Benz Worker Passenger van, which holds a suggested retail price of $29,995 without the aforesaid destination and delivery.

What you get in return are “right-sized” vans which are just perfect for professionals such as plumbers, electricians, and shuttle drivers. Compared to traditional small vans, the two Metris Worker siblings offer nearly twice as much capability. More specifically, you’re looking at a tow rating of 5,000 pounds (2,268 kg), a payload capacity of more than 2,500 pounds (1,134 kg), and up to 186 cubic feet (5,267 liters) of cargo volume.

“The Metris Worker Cargo offers tremendous value for small businesses and fleets alike in addition to providing superior cargo volume, payload capacities and high levels of safety,” commented Bernie Glaser, head of the Mercedes-Benz USA vans division. Another highlight of the Worker Cargo and its passenger-oriented brother is the powertrain. As standard, the Metris comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 208 horsepower and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) on tap, along with a 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic.

An option that is worth considering having in both models from the Worker family is the so-called Convenience Package. For $1,999, this package bundles a rear view camera, heated and electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, LED light in the rear cargo area, cruise control, rain sensor for the wipers, and an Audio 15 head unit with a 5.8-inch TFT screen.
