Mercedes Benz CLS Launches on January 29...

… or exactly 125 years since Carl Benz filed patent application number 37435 at the Reich patent office for his "vehicle operated by gas engine." The moment of the market launch has been chosen by Mercedes Benz as the starting point of a very special year for the three-pointed star brand.

Presented at the 2010 Paris Auto Show, the CLS comes as, according to the manufacturer, the embodiment of remarkable capacity for innovation in the fields of design and technology.

"There has never been a new vehicle concept which has enjoyed the same degree of success as the CLS. With the launch of this model in October 2004 Mercedes-Benz established a bold, new vehicle concept and the new version builds on this with its exciting design and refined sportiness," said Anders Sundt Jensen, Mercedes-Benz head of Brand Communications.

To help propel the model at the top of the sales charts from the very beginning, Mercedes has devised a special marketing campaign for the car, with model Karolina Kurkova becoming the very sensual face of the car. The campaign will include print advertising, TV and radio advertisements, pre-roll ads, an interactive web specia, iPad app, retail and interactive marketing activities.

When it is launched, the CLS will come powered by two six-cylinder engines, packed in the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY (265 hp) and the CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY (306 hp).

The two vehicles will retail for EUR63,427 and EUR64,617, respectively and will come with a whole range of luxury extras: five interior colors, five trim designs, three types of leather, three exclusive types of wood (high-gloss brown burr walnut, high-gloss black ash and satin-finish light-brown poplar).
