2012 Mercedes CLS63 AMG to Debut at LA Auto Show

Mercedes used the recent Paris Auto Show to introduce the second generation of the CLS model to the world. However, automotive enthusiasts were left waiting for the high-spec AMG version of the four-door coupe. Now, it seems that the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG will make its debut at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show, as company sources have told Autoblog.

Under the hood of the exquisite AMG creation, we will find the German company’s new twin-turbo 5.5 liter V8. This means that the driver will get to play with 544 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm), while the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions will stand at an impressive level for the vehicle’s class.

However, there will always be customers that have a need for even more power. This is why. Mercedes will also offer an optional AMG Performance Package, which will bring the game to 571 hp and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm). The power will be sent to the rear axle with the help of the new seven-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission.

The vehicle will be dressed in an AMG body kit that will include more aggressive rear and front fascias, and side skirts, while riding on generously-sized AMG wheels.

As we are talking about one of Mercedes’ performance-orientate models, the interior will also discreetly remind passengers that the car means (more than just) business.

The German automaker needs to deliver nothing short of a superlative-packed vehicle (and we’re sure that it will), as the segment the car is included in is one of the fastest growing on the market, with competition becoming incredibly fierce.
