After in the beginning of the month German manufacturer Mercedes Benz pulled the wraps off the facelifted CL-Klasse, the first images showing the AMG versions of the CL65 and CL63 hit the web today.
Whereas the details about the new line have already been announced, these first images show the AMG versions coming in line with the new design language for the Klasse. The car features the same revised and lowered front fascia with larger air inlets (with a chrome accent for the AMG version), as well as the headlights complete with LED daytime running lights.
Under the hood, the new CL65 and CL63 AMG hide some interesting changes. The CL63 AMG is no longer worthy of its name, as it dropped the 6.2l V8 in favor of a 5.5l V8 bi-turbo, which develops 536 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The unit is paired to a AMG MCT gearbox.
The CL65 AMG on the other hand will use the same V12 unit fitted on the previous generation, the difference being made by the bigger output: 621 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.
As with the regular CL-Klasse, the AMG versions will use advanced technologies, including Active Blind Spot Assist, Attention Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Night View Assist Plus and Active Body Control.
Pricing for the new CL-Klasse, including the ones for the AMG versions, have not yet been announced. As it usually happens, the leaked images will surely prompt the release of official photos in the days to come. Keep an eye out for further updates.
