Spyshots: 2011 Mercedes S-Klasse Coupe

The future CL facelift, which we bring you today in these spyshots, not only marks the launch of a revised generation, but also the return to the S-Klasse Coupe designation for the Mercedes' line. The coupe, expected to hit the street sometimes next year, will bring with it some changes to the bodywork and its features and options, but is expected to bring little new in terms of engines.

As you can see in these images, the main changes will focus to both ends of the car. To the front, the new S-Klasse Coupe will feature a redesigned bumper with a revised grille, split with a single bar, a feature which makes the Mercedes badge stand out more. The front lights will be changed with LED daytime headlights: LEDs will also be featured at the rear, where the bumper will receive only minor refinements.

As said, engine wise, don't expect a revolution. The car will pack the same engines (V8 and V12), but probably revised with new technologies so that they live up to today's fuel consumption expectations.

For the AMG version of the facelifted S-Klasse Coupe, the German manufacturer's in-house tuning arm promises to bring the same amount of power (if not even more), while providing better fuel economy.

Of course, now that hybrid technologies are here, rumors point to a possible use of the unit fitted on the S400 Hybrid in the new S-Klasse Coupe as well. The respective 3.5l unit develops, on its own 279 horsepower, while the electric motor develops 20 horsepower and a starting torque of 160 Nm.
