Mercedes AMGs Tuned by Renntech Set World Records

Mercedes AMG cars are insanely fast and powerful vehicles but, after all, this is the in-house tuner’s purpose. This qualities have been enhanced even more since the Germans started fighting in their national powerwars. However, it seems that some people tend to disagree with this. There are mainly two types: tuners and customers. And most of the time one category’s automotive insanity matches the other’s in such a wonderful way.

A perfect example to illustrate this comes from Renntech, a dedicated Mercedes tuner based in Florida. Actually, there are two examples.

The first one is a Mercedes CL 65 AMG, belonging to one of Renntech’s customers. The monster had received Renntech ECU upgrade, ram air system, intercooler upgrade, high-flow exhaust and limited-slip differential. It was taken to the Palm Beach International Raceway. The result? A 10.62 seconds @ 133.7 miles per hour quarter mile run. This made the car the fastest CL65 in the world, by drag strip standards, of course.

Renntech’s owner, Hartmut Feyhl didn’t want to let this event pass without setting a record of his own. He had brought his C63 AMG to the track (after improving its engine, drivleine, suspension, braking and equipping the car with prototype products under developments), and it did not take long until he reached an 11.6 seconds @ 125.3 miles per hour quarter mile run, which is the world’s quickest trap speed recorded for the C63.

The Palm Beach Raceway trip was not a random event, as this was one of Renntech’s ways of celebrating 20 years of Mercedes tuning.
