Mercedes-AMG Petronas Aren't Too Cocky After Jerez Test

Even though the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team had a much better testing session at Circuito de Jerez than expected, managing to put in quite a good amount of mileage, the Germans aren't jumping to early conclusions and play down their  - some say - obvious pre-season advantage.
“I think these people should look at the past. Very often the so-called favorites after the first couple of days of testing were not the favorites when the season actually started or panned out. It is too early right now.” Toto Wolff told Autosport when asked what he though about the media outlets who said that Mercedes-Benz AMG Petronas are clear favorites when the 2014 Formula 1 season starts.

Despite Wolff's rather safe approach to the question, the facts of the matter remain, and the all-new Mercedes-AMG F1 W05 single-seater proved to be one of the most reliable cars in the four days of testing last week, with the team bouncing back in a pretty respectable manner after Lewis Hamilton's first day crash.

We're guessing that we will have a better view of how things are going to work out in 2014 after the upcoming tests at Bahrain, where heat will play a bigger role in reliability.
