The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S Edition 1 is one hell of a compact car, which will soon set wheels on American soil. The four-door coupe comes with the world's most powerful 2.0-liter engine and a price almost as high as that of the Mercedes-Benz GLS SUV.
The price of the four-door coupe is somewhat explainable. Mercedes-AMG will only roll out 25 such examples for customers in the United States, and the model will only be available for the first year of production.
The super limited-run, special-edition AMG sports exterior and interior design elements make it instantly recognizable. It is painted in the Manufaktur Mountain Grey Magno shade and sports graphics along both sides, displaying the AMG logo and the AMG pattern in the checkered flag design to highlight the athletic nature of the model.
The sports car also comes with exclusive design accents in orange. The AMG Night Package Plus and the AMG Aerodynamics Package with larger front splitter and rear spoiler, as well as other aerodynamic enhancements, are standard.
The Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S Edition 1 rides on 19-inch AMG cross-spike forged wheels in matte black with contrasting red AMG Performance brake calipers at the front and rear.
There are also special Edition 1 elements on board. The AMG Performance seats with black microfiber upholstery and orange stitching are on the menu. The "CLA 45 S" branding shows up in orange on the integrated headrests.
Meanwhile, there are orange accents on the instrument panel, right behind the AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa leather/microfiber. Red illuminated AMG door sill panels, and Edition 1-specific lighting in red are part of the plan.

The handcrafted M139 pumps out an impressive 416 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. These make the car flash from 0 to 60 mph (0 to 97 kph) in 4 seconds flat.
The model is equipped with the standard AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive with AMG Torque Control for enhanced driving dynamics.
The rear differential sports two electronically controlled multi-plate clutches. Each of them is connected to a rear axle driveshaft for variable power distribution between the front and rear.
